Who we are
Birmingham Founders (birminghamfounders.com) is run by Brambrüesch Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16282943). Brambrüesch Ltd is the controller of the personal data described here.

Membership applications
When you apply through the form on our Members page we collect:
- your name, email address, business name and where you're based;
- whether your business is generating revenue;
- the names of the two members recommending you.
We use this only to assess your application against our membership criteria and to contact you about it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a recommendation-only membership club, and taking steps at your request before you become a member.
Recommenders: if someone names you as a recommender we hold your name alongside their application, so we can confirm the recommendation with you. Contact us if you didn't agree to recommend them.
We keep applications for up to 12 months after we've made a decision, then delete them. If you become a member we keep what we need to run your membership for as long as you remain one.
The founder directory
The directory lists people who founded or run businesses in the Birmingham area. Each profile is compiled from publicly available sources: press articles, company websites and public professional profiles such as LinkedIn. A profile can include:
- name, role, company, sector and business location;
- a summary of the business, its funding and status;
- links to press coverage, the company website and a public LinkedIn profile, with its headline;
- a photo taken from published coverage of the founder, credited and linked to its source.
We publish this in our legitimate interest in documenting Birmingham's founder community and helping people in it find each other. We only include information about people's business activities, and we link every profile to its sources.
Want to be removed or corrected? Email privacy@birminghamfounders.com with the link to your profile. We'll remove your profile or photo, or fix anything that's wrong, usually within 7 days.

Who we share data with
We don't sell personal data. Applications are seen only by the people who review them. We use Cloudflare (hosting and database) and GitHub (where the directory's source files are kept) as processors. Where a provider handles data outside the UK, the transfer is protected by the UK's adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can object to how we use it. Email privacy@birminghamfounders.com; we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We'll update this page if how we use personal data changes, and change the date at the top.
